Short description of your place and practices
I'm in Kinshasa in the DRC, working in market gardening in Kimwenza.
The agroecological practices I currently use consist of using biochars to improve the fertility of Kinshasa's acid sandy soils.
Since 2019, I've published more articles and others are in press.
Biochar has enabled me to reduce the cost of buying organic matter, and it has also helped me to reduce the use of fertilizers in my field.
Farm and farming system
Details of the farming system
A farmer is involved in the cultivation and management of crops and/or livestock for the purpose of producing food, fiber, or other agricultural products. This is often done on a commercial scale, with the goal of selling these products to consumers or other businesses.
What is your dream for the future of your farm and/or your location in general?
As we all know, famine is striking my country, the DRC. Urban and rural farmers are neither supported nor trained in modern farming
techniques.
They find it hard to keep track of their farm's accounts, and profits are very low.
As an agricultural engineer, I'm convinced that I can contribute effectively to helping women working in market gardening.
My dream is to become a great leader in Agroecology in the DRC. I want to spread this practice throughout the country, especially among urban farmers who overuse chemical fertilizers.
