Short description of your place and practices
For some years in the 20th Century, we utilized various ecosystem services and applied ecology concepts (now known as agroecology) for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in academic teaching and field crops practice. The goal was to control agricultural pests below Economic Injury Lines and reduce the use of agrochemicals. While we achieved some success, in the 21st century, pesticide and chemical corporations are increasing their export of highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) and other dangerous chemicals to developing countries, as reported by many sources.
What is your dream for the future of your farm and/or your location in general?
My dream is to eliminate pesticide use in rice fields in Mazandaran, Iran. I believe that by implementing sustainable farming practices and promoting natural pest control methods, we can protect both the environment and the health of our communities. Through education and collaboration with local farmers, we can work towards a future where pesticide use is no longer necessary in rice cultivation. Together, we can make this dream a reality.
