East region of cameroon

I practice polyculture in the East region of cameroon which is the largest interms of forest cover. Over the past years since i engaged in polyculture, I have experience a drastic change in my standard of living as i have integrated most economic crops as well as trees, medicinal plants e.t.c. I was so much into monoculture but it was not promising at all. But when i engaged into crop diversification, I spend zero cash on external inputs. The integration of other crops including trees have helped in the fight against insect pest and diseases and also increased the fertility of the soil. With this practice, a micro climate has been created in my farm and this help to increase soil moisture content as well as enabled the living conditions of other animals (biodiversity conservation)

Crop diversification specifically polyculture. Here i have engaged several economic crops in my farm some which act as pest repellent, fertilization for the soil. Moreover this practice is making me become very resilient to climate change as I have food and money all year round. This practice doesnot permits me dependent only on one crop which is the practice of monoculture.

My dream is to futher engaged other economics crops into my farm and also include live stock. However I will like to train other farmers on the importance of crop diversification as well as its benefits on improving livelihood. I plan to expand my farm and also take this practice (crop diversification) to other parts of the country.
