Short description of your place and practices

In 2021, along with a group of neighbors, we established a community garden in a green area that was affected by litter and insecurity. We took over the space to implement a garden from scratch. As the process unfolded, more neighbors joined, and today we are approximately 30 urban farmers of different ages and professions, all converging in this space with a common purpose: ecological agriculture.
Our practices are framed within Agroecology, which, as a sociopolitical movement, science, and set of practices, provides us with tools for our agroecological production. Guided by this perspective, we primarily engage in the following practices: planting and soil regeneration, propagation and conservation of native seeds, production of organic fertilizers, and promotion of environmental education through participatory workshops

What is your dream for the future of your farm and/or your location in general?

We are dedicated to sustainable agriculture, aiming for our community garden to become a local and national benchmark. Our objective is to maintain a constant and profitable agroecological production in this space, providing local and healthy food to our surrounding communities. In a city like Bogotá, many people lack access to healthy and organic foods due to their high prices, with vegetables being among these products. Furthermore this dilemma, several individuals do not have the opportunity to consume local foods; instead, they mainly rely on imported and highly processed items. We aim to shift this paradigm by offering affordable, healthy, and native products to our families and neighbors in the city, promoting their food sovereignty and security while also encouraging everyone to engage in planting
