Where it is realized
Summary description of agroecological practice
FAO Senegal and our partner provided the essential elements necessary for 10 youths in Fatick to establish their respective agroecology farms in their community. These elements include land capital, plant capital (fruit trees, forest trees, fodder), seed capital, agroecological and technological knowledge, and financial capital generated from the sale of the trainees' production.
According to one of the young beneficiaries from the municipality of Ndiob, all the trees provided have already been planted in the plot earmarked for development, located approximately 2 km from the concession. This plot is equipped with a well, machinery, and a motor pump, and it will soon be protected by a fence.
In addition to this support, FAO Senegal will organize exchange visits and other training sessions focusing on marketing, leadership, fundraising, etc., to encourage and support young agro-entrepreneurs. Furthermore, FAO Senegal aims to expand its support to include youths in the Louga and Matam regions of Senegal.
Type of agroecological practice
The participation of youth in planting fruit trees, forest trees, and fodder contributes to sustainable land use and the conservation of natural resources within the local community.
