Where it is realized
Summary description of agroecological practice
Fruit tree planting
Type of agroecological practice
Recycling the fruit seeds from the farm
Mulching to conserve soil moisture
The seeds are self produced in the farm as a few are locally exchanged.
Implementing the practice
The organic waste and crop residues are used for compost which increase the soil fertility rate hence improving the health of the plant. Rain water is collected and later used to water the tree seedlings. Weeds are managed through cultural and mechanical practices only as the residues are incorporated into the soil. after some period the tree seedlings are then grafted to increase its production rate and later transplanted on the farm.
Why you use and what you expect from this practice?
The practices are very effective as the are also environmental friendly. With healthy plants, quality yields are assured hence there is a high economic and nutritive value.
