Pollinator gardens
Zimbabwe

Brève description de votre localisation et de vos pratiques
The pollinator garden is in a communal area called Kenzamba in Zimbabwe. It is an estimate of 5ha indigenous forest and currently has 36 Kenyan top bar hives installed. The forest is protected from tree cutting and fires and the bee hives are providing nesting sites for bee colonies disturbed in the forest.
Ferme et système agricole
Détails du système agricole
It's an indigenous 5 ha forest that has been protected and bee hives have been placed. The area is meant to conserve indigenous trees and also become a refuge place for pollinators that cannot tolerate surrounding land use changes. The bee hives produce honey to be sold in bigger markets to enable management of the area and expansion of idea to other districts
Quel est votre rêve pour l'avenir de votre ferme et/ou de votre site en général?
The dream is to protect many bee, butterfly, wasp and fly species destroyed by chemicals and land use change. I also want the forest to become a seed bank for indigenous trees which are being cut down daily in the surrounding area. I also envision the area becoming a tourist attraction place (API tourism) and the idea growing into more districts.
