Summary description of agroecological practice
Our activities in the village of Katogota allow us to raise awareness among the Katogota community about the agroecological approach through community farmer field schools from which they are supposed to learn the different agronomic methods and practices; Participate with the local community in sowing watermelon, cabbage and corn crops in order to boost their local economy and strengthen the protection of hippos housed in the Katogota community tourist site;
Type of agroecological practice
Strengthen awareness on agroecological approaches, Distribute local seeds, use of organic fertilizers, Combine cultivation with trees, combat the use of persticides, fight against soil erosion and flooding.
Implementing the practice
Local people and indigenous people learn practices in our fields and do the implementation in their own fields.
Why you use and what you expect from this practice?
We use these practices with the vision of increasing the production of the local community and indigenous peoples but also sustainably protecting the Congo Basin forest.
