Implementando a prática

As a source of income generation practice, I produce sorghum and sell it to both local and outside markets as food and also supply it to the Kenya Breweries Limited who take it as a raw material for alcohol production.

The practice is also a source of food to my household and fodder to my livestock. After harvesting, I keep some for consumption (making of porridge and ugali flour). I use the stalks as animal feeds.

Por que você usa e o que você espera dessa prática?

1. Sorghum farming is drought tolerant and there is lower or no inputs costs incurred in the practice.
2. The practice has economic value especially in the outside market since it has good nutritional value as food.
3. I prefer sorghum farming too because it can do well in all seasons hence I am assured of food for my household and livestock feeds for my animals.

I expect to increase more on my income, improve on the health of my household members and that of my consumers and expand the practice into large scale.
